Special Episode |  3 Reasons Why It's Totally Okay To Make Your Happiness A Priority

Judging from its popularity, HAPPINESS is the best thing ever, wouldn't you agree? Nine times out of ten, when I ask my clients what they really want in life, the answer that comes out of their mouths is a simple, "Oh, I just wanna be happy." And I believe them completely. But my next question is one that sometimes baffles them. That question would be this;

WHAT DOES HAPPINESS MEAN TO YOU?

That's where things start getting tricky. Some people will start giving me a dictionary-style answer, explaining what they think it is. Others will start telling me what they think makes them happy. All styles of "happy" are welcome and good. But of every conceivable answer, I could get to this gem of a question; there is one type that perplexes me. That's the one that includes all the things a person wants but has never experienced in their physical lives. The reason that puts me on alert is that it's clear that the person I'm speaking with might not think being happy is something they can have right now. I mean, they don't know that happiness is supposed to be part of their life even before they manifest what they want. That makes my heart hurt a little each time. But hurting for my clients isn't what I'm in business for. My job is to support and help lead them to the answers that will get them to discover their happy place. You know they hire me so they can live happily now. And you also know that means I have to dig a bit deeper on the topic!

Now, when going down that particular rabbit hole, I feel a bit like Alice in Wonderland. Many surprises could be encountered along the way. Humans are funny creatures; we have a lot of pre-programming by the time we start searching to better our lives. The ideas we have in our heads often aren't ours. We didn't necessarily think them up. Unless we form a solid opinion on our own, we adopt them from the people and places that influence us. It isn't anyone's fault that we experience this; it's a completely human thing to do. But once we know that we can change our ideas and think for ourselves, then the own-ness to change falls to us. Let me ask you this:

How important is your happiness to you?

Take a minute and think about where you'd put your own, personal happiness on a scale of 1-10, 10 being the most important.

If you're someone who feels like you need to be putting other's feelings ahead of yours all the time, then this is for you. Yes, moms, I'm talking to you for sure, but this scenario isn't limited to mothers, of course. And it's also for people who are constantly chasing that slippery, mysterious feeling thinking that if only they could do this, or have that, then the clouds would part, and they'd hear angels sing, and then they would be happy. Let me tell you why you're doing a disservice to yourself and everybody else by assuming that idea is the truth if you feel that way. I'm here to let you know why you need to be prioritizing that happiness.

1. YOU'VE ONLY GOT RIGHT NOW.

A very important point I want to make is that even though we can manifest the things we want, we sometimes do so without knowing the consequences. If you're new to the idea of using the LOA to create a life that you love, know that the Law of Cause and Effect plays with the Law of Attraction. I'm not saying that to put you off using the LOA at all because even if you've never heard of these universal principles or others that I'll get to, they apply. You don't have to know anything about them or how they work for your life to be impacted by them. That's why I say it's worth learning about them. It's also why we want to ensure that our desires, what we do, and the actions we take are all done with good intent, and we have others in mind as well.

So Law of Cause and Effect means that there's a result for every cause of something, and for every effect, there's going to be something or someplace where it starts. What that means to human beings is that every time we set out to attract anything to us, some effect is brought about by that action or any inaction that follows our intent to attract. We don't always know exactly what it's going to be. The one thing we do know is that if we set out to do something positive, we'll be co-creating good. If we set out to cause harm or have ill will toward somebody else in mind, then nothing we want is going to come from it.

Getting back to the right now, we all know that tomorrow isn't promised to any of us. Being happy today, at this very minute, is something we all want, and we all deserve it. We didn't get to this earth to live half a life or look for feelings we want to have. We came to co-create them and experience them. This minute is what we've got to work with, and there are a lot of minutes (though there won't be enough to experience all the good there is out there for you), but we all live our life one minute at a time. Those moments are strung together to make up the whole of your life. Why would you want to spend even one of them unhappy if you knew you didn't have to? Is that a choice you'd make? Not me!

So, instead of not understanding and feeling angry and frustrated at how you get things adding up for you in your daily life, then suffering occurrences or effects that aren't in your best interest, why not choose to experience something better? You can do that by deciding the causes that will create better results for you!

2 . BEING HAPPY HELPS YOU MAINTAIN YOUR HEALTH

There's no doubt about it; people who feel good tend to take better care of themselves. Why you ask? It's all about energy, friend!

Every feeling creates a different kind of vibe. The higher the vibe, the better you feel. Happiness just happens to be a high vibrating emotion. In fact, it's really up there on the list of emotions that put you in a great spot. Not only that, but many of the higher frequency emotions are included in feelings of happiness, so it's not restricted to just one emotion. Feeling happy could include a sense of contentment or well-being. It can also hold a feeling of belief, love, knowledge, joy, empowerment, and even ecstasy. Because there is no limit on happiness, just imagine how great your life could be to always be in alignment with it.

When you have that type of high energy flowing through you, you're going to make better and probably more thoughtful decisions about things like your health. Think about it, have you ever chosen to eat something healthy when you feel bad? Maybe you have, but most likely, healthful food is the last thing you want when you're bummed out. If you're like me, low vibes will get you to want the ice cream and chocolate chip cookies, please! Not only that, but low vibes also mean less physical energy too, so it's gonna be even harder to hit that gym or take a walk because you probably won't feel like it, especially after the ice cream and the cookies; thanks very much!

And we all know taking care of yourself isn't restricted to diet and exercise either. It includes things like getting enough rest and relaxing. Those things are just easier to do if you prioritize enough time to have some peace and optimism to get you through each day. Our health is precious; when we lose it, it feels awful, and it's scary. So let's all put our health and happiness right at the top of our list of priorities each day. That will also signal our gratitude to the universe, so it can keep sending us good reasons to be happy and healthy.

3. THERE'S SOMEONE WHO CAN BE IMPACTED BY YOUR HAPPINESS

One of the things that humans do is to watch other humans. Oh yeah, if you're addicted to TikTok and Instagram, you know exactly what I mean. There's nothing better for lots of people than to watch somebody else do a crazy dance or overcome an obstacle or challenge if they want to be inspired. We love movie night at my house. Superhero movies are always welcome, at least as far as my hubby and kids are concerned. I admit I've even come to enjoy them too. They're so fascinating, I think because every superhero has had to overcome something in the process of becoming their superhero identity. There's always at least one uplifting moment.

Now, you may not become a superhero in the same way people become one in the movies, but you can model happiness to somebody. Yes, we're champions to our kids, but it isn't only kids who need one. There will be other people in your life who will look to you to help them fill a need or just be supportive of them when they need it. It doesn't matter if you have a big family, or you're alone in the world, I promise there's somebody, somewhere who can benefit from just a fleeting moment of your happiness. It could be a co-worker who's having a bad day at work or a stranger who sees your inspiring post shared on social media and makes them smile. Small things like that are so important because each time your high vibration touches someone else, they benefit, and you do too. Don't be fooled; when you elevate someone else's vibration, it's multiplied and comes back to you to make you feel better. You might not always know why, when, or how it comes back to you, but it will.

If you start each day by maintaining good mental, emotional, and physical energy, you have the happiness to give to others. It can grow and spread far and wide.
