My 3 Favorite Manifesting Myths, Insights & How To Overcome Them

The Magnetic Me; You + Law Of Attraction Podcast -Episode 76

Opening

0:00 The Comment That Made Me Do This Episode

The other day I was listening to something on television. Big surprise. It doesn't matter what it was because when I turned off the TV felt like I hadn't gotten what I came for, at least not in that case. What ended up happening instead made me think about how many people are out there giving well-meant but possibly very inaccurate information and impressions about manifesting. The comment that got me a little bit riled up went something like this;

"Believe it, and it will happen; that's what the kids call manifesting."

The reason it kind of made my blood boil a bit was this; even though believing is definitely part of manifesting, it's only one element. Any experienced conscious manifestor can tell you that there's more to it than that. If that statement was all you heard about manifesting, and you didn't know anything else about it, and based on that statement, and then you decided to try it out, you've been misled right away. You'd probably end up confused and frustrated and end up with nothing that you wanted. You might think that the idea of manifesting is wrong, or it's too hard, it doesn't work, or even that such a thing doesn't exist.

If you know me, you know I'm never going to tell you what you should believe about this or anything else. You can believe whatever you want to about anything. You and I both know people who probably believe many things that may or may not have any basis in fact. Does that mean they're wrong for believing? No, but if they heard that believing is manifesting, they'd be missing out on an awful lot. If you've made up your mind to be a great co-creator and get out there and manifest every little thing your heart desires, there are a few things you'll want to know so you can consciously co-create the type of life you desire.

So on this episode of the Magnetic Me podcast, I'm going to go into 3 inaccuracies about manifesting that I've heard; I'm sure you've heard them too. I'm calling them myths, and I'll give you some of my insights on why these ideas are defective based on my time manifesting in my own life as well as helping others with manifesting. After that, I'll give you some tips on how to come to terms with what manifesting is and how you can navigate your way through it.

Update

03:58 Why I Took A Break & My Dog

Hello, and welcome to episode #76 of my podcast. I'm Marcie Robinson, manifesting coach and mentor. Come on into our safe space and get ready to be a whole lot more magnetic to what you want.

Before I get to the podcast, I've had a few messages wanting an update on a situation that I had last fall.

It's been quite some time again since I put out a new podcast episode, and I want to be transparent about that. And you can think I'm silly if you must, but my dog... she was a teeny, tiny pomeranian & was my little sidekick for over 15 years... had surgery in September of last year because of a growth in her mouth that had a devastating diagnosis. It was something that she'd had for quite a while before that. Last I told you was that she'd had this second surgery in September, and it helped her a lot with breathing and eating for a bit. However, the illness was very aggressive, and after the new year, she started rapidly deteriorating. She passed away on Valentine's Day after more than a year of fighting. She was a sassy, feisty little thing. But she has an amazing last year of her life with more car rides, trips to the beach, ice cream, walks, playtime, visits with friends and family, cuddles, and many other things than ever before.

And to be honest with you, one of the reasons I took this last break is because I needed to experience life and prepare. So, I thank you for being patient with me. Some people say, "It's just a dog," but she was part of my family and everyday life for over 15 years, leaving a big hole in my heart. We loved each other soooo much.

But there's also exciting news because we have a new little shitzu puppy. She's just five months old, and she's adorable! I have a couple of pictures on my Instagram already, so you can follow what's going on with her there.

So, continuing on with the topic of the podcast, I knew as soon as I heard the comment("Believe it, and it will happen; that's what the kids call manifesting.") that I wanted to get this information into a podcast episode ASAP.

Manifesting Explanation (If you don't know what it means)

08:03 What I Mean When I Say ”Manifesting”

What I mean when I say "manifesting" is the process of intentionally creating, more specifically, co-creating or attracting specific circumstances, events, or outcomes into your life. The idea behind manifesting is that you can use your thoughts and emotions, actions and words, basically your energy, to attract what you want as opposed to what you don't want. So if you're a single mom and you could use some more cash, you can use it for that. Maybe you want more than just a little money; you want a lot of wealth. You could also use it to find the success in your career that's been elusive to you . Perhaps you want to find true love. And if you've had a diagnosis that's hard for you to accept, then you can use co-creation to help you find acceptance, heal or create new health. Maybe even all three.

The concept of manifesting is often associated with the Law Of Attraction, which says that like attracts like. According to this law, your thoughts and emotions have a vibrational frequency that can attract similar frequencies from the universe, leading to the manifestation of your desires. Of course, that's only one of the universal principles in play; others are involved here. But the LOA is a very important principle, and without it, we couldn't manifest anything.

Manifesting will often involve actions such as intention, visualization, affirmations, and positive thinking. If you don't think these are actions, I have news for you, but that's for another day. By focusing your thoughts, emotions, and actions on what you want to manifest and genuinely believing it is possible, you can create a mindset that attracts those things into your life. Mindset, by the way, is another element of manifesting.

But with this knowledge, people make of it what they will. Some believe it wholeheartedly. Obviously, I do because I've been practicing this for almost 20 years and know it works because of my own results. Others think it's hogwash, and that's fine; nobody will force you to believe it.

So, everyone has the potential to co-create, and I've learned that it's not just potential. Co-creation is a natural process. We do it all the time; even if you think it's a ridiculous concept, you're doing it. You do it because of the universal principles that exist and are steadfast. It's just how things work.

However, when it comes to experiencing manifesting, sometimes people want to rewrite universal laws. And often, they don't realize that's what they're trying to do; they just think through inexperience that it will work in the way they can see it working. So if you've gotten some misinformation about this, it isn't your fault. And please don't blame the person you got your info from. They may be as misled as you are about all of this. The important thing here is that you are getting the correct information now.

Remember that we're dealing with universal laws here, and the universe is a big place, which is why we all have the potential to manifest with purpose. Our thought processes aren't big enough to see all that happens with our co-creating in conjunction with the universe, so please don't let the way you see things or think about things limit the cosmos from getting the things you'd like to have in your life to you.

So without further ado, here are some of the big myths I run across all the time when it comes to co-creating your life.

Today's Topic; Manifesting Myths

12:10 3 Manifesting Myths That Drive Me Crazy & Insights

MYTH #1

Manifesting is a magic solution that will instantly solve all your problems and/or make your life perfect.

INSIGHT:

There are no movie endings here. As much as I hate to burst any bubbles deciding to manifest anything doesn't exclude taking action to reach your goals. I know the moment you realize your conscious efforts have produced the desired results, it feels magical or pretty darned close. But there's going to be a lot happening to get from the birth of your desire to have it show up in your life. Co-creation is a process that's a joint effort between you and the forces in the universe. When you have a desire and put it "out there," it will still require your decisions and your input along the way. This can come in the form of many things, such as listening for clues, sometimes putting in some real physical effort, and always having a bit of patience. And please don't make the mistake of thinking that being willing to take action when it's needed to achieve your desires means that manifesting doesn't work. And remember, too, that often your dreams require help from others so they can manifest.

MYTH #2:

Manifesting means you can control everything.

INSIGHT:

As a reforming control freak, I know how good it feels to think you're in complete control of every aspect of your life. Getting into that groove where everything is going just how we want it is addicting to some of us. It's sooo good....until it isn't. The only problem with thinking we can be in control of everything is that we can't.

So, here I am, giving a PSA about what you can and can't control during co-creation.

Things that cannot be controlled through your manifesting efforts for sure are.

  • other people
  • other people's decisions
  • other people's desires for themselves
  • the consequences of other another's actions

Thinking you can try to control others is like trying to control a natural disaster. There's too much momentum there, and you don't know entirely what's going on with them and their energy.

Here's what you can control and get ready because some of you might not like it:

  • yourself

I know that sounds too simplistic when so much goes into making one human being. However, barring some sort of actual disaster, this is where the power of our decision comes into play.

  • When something goes wrong, you can decide how to respond to it.
  • When you feel something negative, you can choose to process that emotion and then guide yourself to one that feels better, even if it's for a few moments.
  • When there's something you need to do, you can do it, and if you don't know how right away, you can probably figure it out.
  • When you have a belief that you know isn't doing anything good for you, you can decide to examine it to see if it's in alignment with you, and then you can create a new one.
  • When there's a situation you don't want to be in, you can take the lesson from it and change your perception about it to find answers and appropriate actions.

You know what I'm saying here. And I don't pretend that any of that is easy. However, it is doable, and knowing you have a choice, is empowering.

So while manifesting can't guarantee you'll be able to be in charge of everything, don't try to escape valuable lessons that come with your co-creating. We're human, and this is a natural process.

By the way, giving up some of the control can ensure a more accurate realization. If you can forget about how things are going to show up, and even when they're going to appear for you, you'll be a lot better off. That frees us the universe to work at its own speed so you can get things faster. So if you're able to let go of overseeing every minute detail, you're going to have more fun and get more of what you want.

MYTH #3:
Manifesting is based on positive thinking.

INSIGHT:

While positive thinking is an important part of manifesting, it's not as simple as that. Thinking positive things is better than being negative, and I'd never discourage anyone from switching from high-energy thoughts and getting lost in low-energy ones. However, manifesting what you want is based on your overall energy patterns, and your thoughts are but one component of this.

Just as important are other things like those beliefs we briefly talked about, actions, and how you're feeling. Your energy centers and pathways, meridians, chakras, and aura are all part of your energy body and are influenced by what's going on in your mind and your physical body.

Manifesting requires self-awareness, honesty, and a willingness to face your fears and limiting beliefs. That's why it's essential to recognize and work through any negative thoughts or emotions that might be blocking your progress toward your goals. Simply focusing on positive thoughts without addressing any underlying issues will not lead to successful manifesting. The best thing you can do for yourself is to find ways to deal with the everyday things in your life so your energy is consistently on the good side. I'm not saying you're going to feel joy every minute because you won't, but if you can relax a bit more and not let annoyances destroy your equilibrium, that's a good thing to aim for.

SIDE NOTE:

(Please note, all I meant by the above comment when I said you wouldn't feel joy every minute is that because we're human, it's not easy to feel joy every moment. That doesn't mean we're not happy overall.)

Overcoming Manifesting Myths

22:18 How To Overcome Myths For Better Manifesting

Let's move on now to the things you can do to incorporate manifesting as a lifestyle.

Getting comfortable in your new role as a co-creator will involve a process of understanding, exploring, and integrating the correct information about manifesting into your beliefs and practices. Here are some steps that might help you do that:

  1. Educate yourself: Take the time to learn about various perspectives and teachings on manifesting. Read books, articles, and reputable sources on the topic. Gain an understanding of different approaches to it, techniques, and belief systems associated with manifesting. This can help you form a well-rounded understanding and can help you to make informed decisions about what resonates with you. And if you decide at some point you'd like me to help you do that through something I have to offer you, then not only will I be absolutely honored and grateful, but I'll do my best to make it as easy as I can and as fun as possible.
  2. Reflect on your beliefs: You'll want to think about your perspectives on manifesting. Consider your personal beliefs, values, and experiences. What does manifesting mean to you? How does it align with your existing beliefs or spiritual practices? Reflecting on those things will help you develop a deeper comprehension of how you personally relate to the concept of co-creating your life.
  3. Practice discernment: With any concept, it's important to exercise wisdom and critical thinking. Consider different viewpoints and evaluate them based on your own intuition and judgment. Separate fact from fiction, and be aware of any potential biases or limitations in the information you come across. Pay careful attention to what resonates with you for further exploration.
  4. Experiment and experience: Take a reasonable amount of time to test manifesting techniques or practices that you think will work best for you. Keep an open mind and approach it as an experiential process. Notice how you feel while completing a technique, any changes in your mindset or behavior, and the outcomes you get. Personal experience can be a compelling way to understand and integrate the concept of manifesting into your life.
  5. Reflect on your results: Analyze the results of your manifesting practices without getting too emotional about them. Ask yourself a few specific questions too. Like, did you achieve what you wanted to? What worked for you, and what didn't? Thinking back on your experiences can help you refine your understanding of manifesting and develop your own approach that feels authentic to you. That's what helped me most when I was first exploring what co-creation with purpose could do for me. And it's what I like to pass on to my students and clients too.
  6. Embrace your own perspective: Remember that what you get from manifesting can be different for everyone depending on what their current state of consciousness about it is. You may have different beliefs and experiences with it than I would. Embrace your own perspective and honor your own beliefs, even if they might differ from others. What matters is that your understanding of manifesting feels meaningful and empowering to you. And be ready for it to take on new meaning as you develop your skill.
  7. Be open to growth and change: As with any concept, your understanding of manifesting will evolve over time. Always continue to be open to learning and changing with each thing you actualize in your life. Let it be okay to refine your understanding and approach as you grow into new knowledge of it and experience more things. Be willing to adapt and integrate new insights into your understanding of manifesting.

Remember that manifesting is a personal and individual practice, and it's important to approach it in a way that feels real and resonant to you. It's okay to have your own beliefs and perspective on manifesting, and it's important to honor your own journey and process of coming to terms with manifesting.
