MMP Episode 65: Why "Spidey Senses" Are Definitely A Thing; 6 Burning Questions  Answered

Welcome!

Let me ask you this, what do you think about intuition? Does it exist in real life, or is it too "out there" or coincidental for you? For lots of us, intuition is a real thing. We experience it more often than not. Others can only pinpoint it at certain times in their life, and that's okay. But even if you think you've never experienced it at all, there's actually some science that backs up the idea of intuition. I've taken the six questions I get asked the most about intuition, and I'm giving you my very best answers. By the end of this episode, let's see if you can get on board with the idea of it. Spoiler alert; it's not woo-woo or crazy, but it's energy and brain-based.

Hey there, I'm Marcie Robinson, and it's time for the Magnetic Me, You + Law of Attraction Podcast. Welcome, Come On into our super magnetic space because it's always a sunny day here. It's episode 65, get comfy, let's catch up, and leave here feeling lighter, brighter, and filled with the best kind of co-creative energy. In other words, let's get our shine on!

Have you ever had the super cool experience of just "knowing" something without consciously knowing you were right? I'm talking about times where you didn't have any logical reason to back up your feeling. I think we've all had experience with this. So if you have and your "hunch" proved to be correct, then it was your intuition. I happen to call my intuition my "spidey senses." So when I tell my husband that my spidey senses are working, he knows he should sit up and listen because what I'm about to say is super important.

Let me sum up a tiny portion of what people who've studied intuition (aka, scientists) have discovered about it. And these findings happen to fall in line with the questions students and clients tend to ask me the most.

1. WHAT IS IT?

To appreciate it, let me explain this as simply as I can. Intuition is a sense or an impression that something is a certain way. Like I said before, you don't need to have a logical reason to know this because you can feel it. For instance, if you are sitting in a room with someone you know pretty well, and they're having a problem, you might have a "gut feeling" that they are. You can ask them if something's wrong, and even if they deny it, that sense stays with you.

2. HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?

Scientists believe that intuition happens because of patterns and repetition. When we come across situations, our brains will automatically search for information stored in our memories. If we've dealt with that situation before, our brain will show us what we've packed away regarding those circumstances. That includes how we reacted and what we did about it. Also, the decisions and judgments we made about the whole thing. But that's not all.

You also need to know that your brain is connected to your gut through a highly complex network of nerves, specifically one called the vagus nerve. All that information that your brain just dragged out of its conveniently labeled and stored info bank travels from your brain and into your gut. Thanks to neurotransmitters, those are the tiny chemical couriers that get all that previous experience and knowledge to the gut. Of course, that's where your memories will produce the sense or overall feelings you'll have about previous and similar situations. Then you can compare your current happenings to make your decisions for what's going on right now. Chances are that you're going to react the very same way to a like situation or the same one because you've already got a pattern to follow.

If you haven't had the same situation before, you have the opportunity to think for a few seconds and evaluate, so you make a good decision. I like to think of intuition as a tool for creating more emotional intelligence. I'd urge you to please take advantage of that in the minute and make a fair assessment because it's the best chance you have to develop positive feelings or remain neutral for future comparisons. That will lead to better decision-making and outcomes for you.

When I say this happens in a fraction of a second, I mean it. Our brains are a marvel and rival the best supercomputer or search engine. That's why you can go from feeling happy about something one second and angry and so sure that you're right to be in the next second when you have a sudden realization.

Think for a minute about the example of just "knowing" your friend has a problem even if they deny it. You were probably unaware when you first saw your friend that your brain processed information and clues about their behavior and their overall energy. If it's out of character with what you know about them when they're happy or relaxed, you may have the sense that something is wrong.

3. HOW DO I KNOW IT'S RIGHT?

You may have heard like I have that your first instinct is usually correct. It doesn't have to be a life or death style circumstance. Maybe you want to use your intuition today to make a better decision about something that's a bit mundane. Something most of us wonder about is if you can truly trust your intuition. While many times it's going to be correct, you may also encounter times when you wonder how the heck things happened the way they did when you know you were using your better judgment.

Let's be clear. Your judgment is precisely what it sounds like. Remember that the way you view what you're going through right now is going to be based on that previous knowledge and experience you've already had. As such, you've created some strong beliefs about those experiences. Those beliefs come into play when your brain is searching for info to give you after you encounter something. That means that your first instinct may not always be correct.

That's also why taking old situations and evaluating your emotions surrounding them can be essential if you want to become amazing at manifesting. If you can't create a new feeling or way to look at something you've already experienced, then again, try being a bit more neutral about it. It's the best way to overcome stored emotions.

4. WHAT IF I'M NOT IN TOUCH WITH MY INTUITION?

That last bit of information there might stop some people from even trying to listen to it. So if you're a bit of a skeptic on this, or you can't be sure that you can trust it, what do you do about it? The good news here is that you can develop that intuition of yours to be more accurate. For now, you can do very simple things such as;

  • When you notice a strong, split-second feeling about something, follow that feeling as far as it's appropriate and see if it's right.
  • Search your memory and see if you can remember a similar circumstance and the outcome. It may give you answers to why you have that sense.
  • Instead of assuming your intuition is correct, look at different ways of viewing that same situation. Don't be afraid to do a bit of research not just on your point of view and why it's right, but why others think differently on that topic. And that doesn't mean fighting with people. But just try to educate yourself on different points of view. And try to stay neutral with your feelings about other opinions. You don't have to change your mind about anything.
  • Intuition is inner guidance. It's also about using what you know to act and react. If you have to make a quick decision and don't trust that what you feel is right, use the lessons you've learned from your past to guide you at the moment.

5. HOW DO I KNOW WHEN I SHOULD TRUST MY INNER GUIDANCE COMPLETELY?

So we've been looking at the logical side of intuition, and not everyone is uncomfortable with using theirs. Also, we've all heard stories where someone based their decision-making on an inner voice when it seemed impossible it could be right. However, in these stories, that inner knowing often saves someone from certain peril.

Remember that your brain processes information at speeds that our thinking could never hope to keep up with that's how good it is. Also, remember that everything is energy. It's totally possible that there's valuable information that's out there in the bigger consciousness. And it could make its way to you through invisible channels. You're probably going receive it like a sudden, forceful thought, feeling, or even a quiet voice that's unexplainable.

In those times, you'll feel infinitely sure or sometimes take action without thinking about it. It's very instinctual in those cases, so don't overthink it if it's that strong.

6. WHO SHOULD THINK ABOUT DEVELOPING THEIR INTUITION?

I think everyone should, but if you struggle with anxiety or fear, you might want to expand and lean into your intuition a bit more. Why? Because faith is an attitude, it's crucial to have or cultivate that attitude of faith for manifesting. You'll want to have;

  • The knowing that you're worthy and allowed to have your desire.
  • Confidence that you can manifest what you want.
  • The conviction that it's right for you to have it.
  • The belief that the universe is on your side and helping you right this minute.

The best way I know to alleviate overthinking about manifesting and finding faith is to build your intuition.

So as you can see, intuition sometimes feels like magic, but it isn't weird and "iffy," and what's more, you don't even have to be aware that it's happening. That being said, I like to think of it as a superpower. It's built into each of us as one of our mental faculties, and we're supposed to use it. Just imagine the good we could do if we could tap into this superpower and roll with it in complete confidence. So I'd urge you to advance your intuition and use it wisely for;

  1. When you meet someone and get a first impression of them.
  2.  Use it to understand loved ones and their behaviors.
  3. Let it help you develop empathy for a stranger and what they're going through.
  4. Develop good instincts that could be beneficial for your work.
  5. Base decisions on what would be best for you and your family.
  6. And to help you stay healthy and strong mentally, emotionally, and physically.
