MMP Episode 38 The Interesting Perspective that Praying, Not Dreaming Makes in Manifesting
When it comes to using universal principles, people often wonder why visualizing is so essential. While I do think it is very important in having your dreams actualize for you, I also know that there's one common denominator in all my successful clients or students that makes using their imagination a success.
Whether you're just dreaming about a big goal or something you think would be nice for you to have, or you're genuinely working hard to get there, there may be one particular thing that you'll be told by almost everyone that will help. We've all heard about the difference that visualization can make in manifesting your dreams. While I'd never dispute that it is a valuable thing to do, it doesn't always net the same results for everyone. Have you been taking time every day to make a picture in your mind of what you want, but you don't see any results yet? Maddening, isn't it? If that sounds like you right now, don't despair. I've got a few tips for you to help you with this.
First of all, let's get clear.
I want to talk about daydreaming first. There are likely many things that you like to daydream about. This world is full of them from a million-dollar lottery win, the dream house or car, to a soul-mate, obviously, for everyone, the desire is going to be a bit different. But there's something that daydreams have in common, whether it's yours or mine. That is, they are generally not very productive. The reason for that is because, by definition, they evoke a longing for the dream. The way this makes a difference when it comes to using the Law of Attraction to get that dream comes down to the type of emotion you're putting into it.
A longing for something implies that you don't have it yet; in other words, it's showing a lack. And everything negative, in actuality, is a lack of something. When you're sitting and thinking, imagining your desire, you might be able to see the possibility of it happening. But there also might be a feeling or a kind of desperation that it's not there yet. That's what you want to watch out for because it's not going to work. So when you're longing or aiming for something, it implies you don't have it; the LOA picks up on the lack and sends that back to you. Easy enough to understand, right? We know that just daydreaming isn't sufficient to realize our desires.
Using our logic as human beings, we know that action will be required at some point if we want to make our dream a goal and give it a deadline. Doing that makes that dream seem more real. In addition to using our imagination, we also start making and taking steps toward it. So why are there billions of people genuinely focused on their vision, putting in the action required, and still getting nowhere? Well, usually, when that happens, it's because you're putting in too much effort. Too much exertion is the enemy of the LOA; it slows things right down and stops your momentum. Remember, the Universe doesn't have time for doubts and dilly-dallying; it likes decisiveness and speed. When it feels too hard, or you've been doing so much that you're feeling tired of doing it, then it's way too much effort. That's when you'll want to ease up and turn it over to the Universe. I know control freaks (like me) have a hard time with this, but I promise it'll do you some good. Leaving the Universe in control is the sure bet when all else fails. So imagine that you're putting this goal in the hands of your perfectly capable assistant. Forget about it for a while.
Then I run into people who ask about prayer. If praying doesn't bring up good images from the past for you, please don't tune me out yet. The praying I'm suggesting isn't at all about asking something from someone you're hoping will hear you and feel that your request is worthy enough to grant. First of all, you are worthy of everything that you would ask for. That is never in question.
You also don't need to tag prayer buddies for this, either, especially if the request isn't of global consequence. If it were, then I'd call on other people to help. The type of prayer I'm talking about is so effective because it shows a willingness to receive. You may also know it as "being in receiving mode," as I know Abraham Hicks says. And it's not just about making a request that you believe will be heard. It also means you believe enough that you're prepared for it to happen from the moment you make your request. You're inviting your desire into your life right now. That preparedness to receive that desire is what will make a massive difference in how fast it shows up for you.
So what method do you use to create a meaningful prayer that will produce the desired results?
Let's go back to what we know.
- Know what you want. Sit down, write it out in detail. Details can be crucial in manifesting. We want what shows up to be accurate.
- What will it do for you? Think about how it's going to make your life better or easier. Write that down too.
- Think about how it will feel to have it. Will you be happy, elated, will it be easy to adjust to having that dream realized? Put that in your description as well.
- Now we visualize. Sit down in a place where it's quiet, and you'll preferably be alone for a few minutes. Distractions can make this much harder. As someone who's had four kids and four dogs in the house all at once, I know this!
- When you're comfortable, and you feel settled, start playing a small scene in your mind. It doesn't have to be big and encompass a lot. Just see or suggest in your mind's eye that your dream has been realized. Don't start your scene before what you want to have has shown up. Start from the place of what it will be like after the goal happens. Replay what goes on after the dream comes into being over and over again. It's important to feel like it's actually happened. Do that until you feel like what you're seeing is a memory.
- If you're not a visual person, no problem, focus on a short phrase that will show the same type of realization. Say it over and over with as much good feeling as possible. Do that until it feels like it's happened.
- When you feel like you've been on a journey, then let it go with an appreciation for it. Releasing your intent with gratitude is what will show that you have faith in it. So forget about it until it's time to visualize again. I would only imagine this once per day to avoid showing any neediness.
- Ask for instruction when you release your intent too. If there's something you're supposed to be doing to help your efforts, it will come if you listen for it. Don't let the need for the dream drown out the communication between you and the Universe.
- Make space for your desire where it's appropriate. If it's a physical object, make sure you have room for it in your home. When I say that, I mean to have space where it will live cleared of anything else. Having a void ensures that the Universe will fill it. You know it's true, many of us could just look at our closets for confirmation of that. If it's a relationship, prepare that space energetically that will be filled for you. Think in terms of showing love for others even before the relationship materializes. If it's more happiness you want, start giving joy to others or do something that says happiness to you. You get the idea here.
And if you're wondering, visualizing for specific amounts of time won't guarantee the results nor will imagining certain things. Whatever you're thinking about, it has to feel real, and it has to feel right to you. You have to see it from the position of the you that you are once you have it. So go back to what that desire is going to bring to your life, and you'll know what your imagined scene could be. Decide from there.
I intend that this helps you feel like you can see and experience your desire as you want it to be before it happens.
Now go out and Get Your Shine ON. You're an important part of this world and when you shine it helps you and everyone else too!
