MMP Episode 32 That Thing About Your Life Being A State of Mind
Hi, and welcome to today's episode. My name is Marcie Robinson, and I'm a lifestyle coach. I specialize in helping you attain all your desires through an understanding of the LOA and other universal principles.
As a coach, I'm kind of in the business of asking people questions. I do it every day, and their answers matter. The query I'm putting to you today seems simple, but it can be much more complicated than you might realize. Ready for it?
Are you living the life you want, or would you like to create something different for yourself?
It doesn't matter who you are or what you have; most of us would like to add something to our lives or change it in some way. And we usually want to find the fastest and easiest way possible to get there. That's why the Law of Attraction has become so popular. It might even seem a bit magical at first. For a lot of us, the reaction to this news goes something like this; "There's a law that says I can attract the stuff I want to me and not have to get another job to do it?" We, humans, are funny that way.
Even if you've spent your entire life learning about how to become successful, this one piece of knowledge I'm going to talk about today could easily change everything for you. Now the LOA isn't without its detractors. I've come across lots of people who think it's just fantasy. But since you're listening, I'm willing to bet that you'd like to know for sure. And in the last 15+ years, I've come to realize something important about the LOA. This one thing has made all the difference for me, and it can work for you too. The reason the question I asked you before, you know the one about whether or not you're living the life you want? The reason it's more complicated than it seems is because of this thing I'm about to tell you. That is this;
The state you're living in now is just one of many, and you can change it at any time you want to. Your current state of being is what the LOA is responding to.
Now when I'm talking about your "state," what I mean is the condition of your mind. What is the conditioning of your mental state that you associate yourself with right now? For instance, do you think you're poor? Do you feel lucky? Do you berate yourself for being overweight? Do you think you've got what it takes to live the life you want? Whatever answer you fill in the blank with here is relevant and far-reaching. That's because your "mode of conditioning" if you will, is what determines your tomorrow. That's because your state of mind is what you live in each moment. Because what you're aware of right now is what your life is right now.
Before the LOA, I knew what a mental state was, but even though I had lived in different ones before, I didn't truly understand the importance of it. I knew that you could change yourself if the desire were there, and you acted upon it, but what I didn't really "get" was how to move from one mental state to another without a lot of tough work. I probably figured any change was going to be hard work. That is until I started playing around with the Law of Attraction and learning how to appropriate a new mental state through much less arduous means.
However, even though with practice, it can become much easier to move into different and much more beneficial environments of the mind, there's one thing that you need to watch for with diligence. That is moving back into an old state of mind.
You see, the good news is that you can move from one state of mind to another at any time, and we do it all the time. For instance, you can wake up in the morning and feel great! You have a plan for the day, and you're going to get things done. But when one teeny-tiny thing doesn't work out in your favor, then it's easy to shift into a different attitude and live in a different frame of mind. When that happens, the great vibes you set up when you got up, stop, and become something different. The LOA shifts gears with you, and the next thing you know, life sucks. We've all been there multiple times a day, right?
That feeling that life sucks is a mental attitude; it's a state of mind where you're living at that moment. You can shift out of it at any time that you're ready to. I don't want you to think it's wrong to feel that way because it isn't, and you don't need to beat up on yourself if you find yourself feeling that you've landed on a sucky day. What I would suggest, though, is to do this. When you become aware that you're feeling something negative, acknowledge it. Then, ask yourself if it lines up with what you want to feel. If it isn't lining up, figure out what mental state you'd like to occupy that does and move into that one. Just choose to change it.
Here's the thing. I know it isn't as easy to do it as it is to say it. The thing about being aware of your state of consciousness is that it takes some practice to learn the skill of moving into a different frame of mind. That's where the Law of Attraction techniques and exercises come into play. I have tons of them, and I'm about to let you know how to access a library of them that I'm building up for you. But there's something else that's important to understand about moving into another mode of consciousness. Those lesser states are always there. Once you've thought and felt yourself into them, they're forever there waiting for you to come back to them. It's a bit like moving away from your parent's home when you go to college or university and returning several years later to visit. And when you do, it's like your old room's how it was when you left it. Nothing's been moved or changed; it may have been dusted and vacuumed each week when you weren't there. Your mom might have even washed the bedding, but all of the things you left there are still in the places you left them. States of consciousness are like that too. Anger, doubt, discouragement, unworthiness, it's all there waiting for you, trying to pull you in, so you visit again.
Being purposeful and choosing your state of being can take some practice. For most of us, it's easier to learn as we go; to move from something unwanted to something more positive that we've for sure felt before. Taking a massive leap from feeling broke all the time to feeling rich is undoubtedly possible. But if you've never felt rich before, it will take a lot of denials to get there quickly. We've been taught not to overlook the physical evidence, so it's not easy to do. Or you can gain some experience from being aware each day of how you're feeling and affirming yourself into a new way of being when needed.
That's it for this episode; I'll be back next week. Until then, take care, and don't forget to get your shine on. You make the world so much better for it.
